Card 14 – Thank You with a Flower

4 Jun

Took another break from blogging, but fear not I have a bunch of cards just waiting to be photographed and uploaded sometime tomorrow. Like I said, I am a much more diligent card-maker than I am a blogger =)

So, here is a Thank You card for one of my bosses. I tried to branch out and try 2 new techniques. One is using random pattern papers together, the other is a DIY flower embellishment. I LOVE how the flower turned out. I used my nestabilities and an old law textbook to make it. Then I inked the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink. So yummily shabby! I hope my boss appreciates the use of the law textbook, since he is a dean at my old lawschool…muahahhah. OK, I’ll shut up now and show you the goods:

Honestly, I am not 100% happy with it. Either the button or the butterfly are extra, yet I refuse to get rid of either. =/ Alas, I promised to myself I’ll post every card I make, so I am posting this despite my desire for perfection. Hope you like it!

What I used:

Cardstock – Bazzill, A*Muse
DP – Basic Grey Lime Rickey; Law textbook
Other – MS punch; Recollections brad and rhinestone; button and twine from Michael’s; Fiscars scallop punch

Have a Craftastic Day!

Card 12 – Hi, Owl Buddies!!

18 May

So I went to my local LSS and I got some A*Muse goodies!! I wanted more, but they were out of stock, however the nice ladies took my number and will order the sets for me! I love great customer service.

I am so proud of myself, the card turned out perfectly!! Originally I just wanted to experiment with some techniques and was not expecting much. But everything turned out better than I hoped and the card came together so easily! * dances *

I just want you guys to note how great the leaves look after being sponged with Distress Ink. Also, check out the embossed sentiment…no strays!! My homemade embossing buddy works wonderfully. Also I do not have any circle punches or nesties, so I cut out one with the scallops and then trimmed them off. Thankfully, the design did not call for a perfect circle, and I am definitely getting a MS Circle Cutter on the next Michael’s trip.

Card 10 – Happy Mother’s Day!

16 May

This is the card I gave to my mom. She has been very supportive of my new hobby so I really wanted to impress her, and I did! She absolutely loved the card. The theme was sort of a lost treasure map. I think I have been playing Treasure Isle on Facebook too much…hehe. The middle was stamped with versamark, embossed with clear and then distressed with Tim Holtz’s inks. It was my first time trying the Distress Inks and I love the result…LOVE!

Card 6 – Father’s Day

2 May

I know it’s a bit early, but I wanted a break from all things girly so I did a Father’s Day card. To make it manly I distressed it a bit and used black, brown and cream instead of usual white. I like the end result, but can’t help but think that Ranger Distress Inks would be better. Thankfully, I have a package in the mail =) hehehheh.
