Embellish Color Challenge

19 Sep

This is for yet another challenge. This time I wanted to participate in Embellish Magazine Color Challenge. I just loved the colors and I decided to make a baby card. The yellows and greens make it perfect for a shower when you don’t know the sex of the baby =) Also, as per instructions I paper-pieced the little elephant. It was a solid stamp so I had to stamp on the back of the patterned paper.

Offset Scallops

This card is for Moxie Fab World Offset Scallop Challenge. The second I saw it I just imagined a Christmas tree. I’ll admit it was more circles rather than scallops, but it was so fun nevertheless =)

Card 17 – Circles

28 Jun

Quick card for you this Monday. I recently purchased a Martha Stewart Circle Cutter and decided to play with it a little. There is a small learning curve involved and honestly I was pretty frustrated the first hour. But then I realized what mistake I was making and now it works like a charm. I do recommend getting a glass mat and removable adhesive for it, I am not sure it can work without them.

So here goes:

Card 16 – Marnie

27 Jun

This is a card for my coworker named Marnie. I was leaving the job and wanted to give everyone I worked with a card and this is what she received. I tried to make it fun, but not too girly. She absolutely loved it!! I’ll miss ya, Marnie =(

Light blue and yellow make such a darling combo I think.

I used cloud printed cardstock as a base. The large cloud was hand cut and sponged with Broken China distress ink. After the thickers were added it was mounted on pop-dots and I added some pearls. Butterflies were made with MS punch and covered in Stickles.

Supplies:
C/S – Amuse; Reflections
Ink -Distress Ink in Broken China
Other – Pearls from ACMoore, MS butterfly punch, yellow office paper, Ranger Diamond stickles, American Crafts Glitter Thickers; Plaid pop-dots

Have a Sunny Sunday!

Card 15 – Father’s Day Anchor

26 Jun

I decided that my Father’s Day card should be bright and cheery yet masculine. What can be more masculine than an anchor??? Considering that my Daddy does not care for tools, doesn’t drive, or fish, the anchor was perfect because my Dad was a leutenant in the Russian Army. He didn’t sail on ships, but whatever…heheh

So here is the beauty:

Waves were made with some some Basic Grey paper and a scallop punch. The tag was made by cutting out a rectangle and snipping off the 2 corners, then stamped with distress ink that was misted with water prior to stamping. The background was inked with green and blue distress inks and the edge was given a burnt appearance with Vintage Photo distress ink. The anchor was bought at Forever21 as a necklace and attached with Glossy Accents and mini glue dots. I later added tiny type letter in the lower right-hand corner which spelled out “PAPA”.

Supplies:
C/S – PTI White
D/P – Basic Grey: Max & Whiskers; Lime Rickey
Ink – Distress Ink in Vintage Photo, Broken China, Peeled Paint
Other – Michael’s Brads; Filing Folder [for tag]; Fiscars scallop punch, Zots Mini glue dots, Ranger Glossy Accents; Ribbon from ThisGoodDay

Have a Creative Saturday!

Card 14 – Thank You with a Flower

4 Jun

Took another break from blogging, but fear not I have a bunch of cards just waiting to be photographed and uploaded sometime tomorrow. Like I said, I am a much more diligent card-maker than I am a blogger =)

So, here is a Thank You card for one of my bosses. I tried to branch out and try 2 new techniques. One is using random pattern papers together, the other is a DIY flower embellishment. I LOVE how the flower turned out. I used my nestabilities and an old law textbook to make it. Then I inked the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink. So yummily shabby! I hope my boss appreciates the use of the law textbook, since he is a dean at my old lawschool…muahahhah. OK, I’ll shut up now and show you the goods:

Honestly, I am not 100% happy with it. Either the button or the butterfly are extra, yet I refuse to get rid of either. =/ Alas, I promised to myself I’ll post every card I make, so I am posting this despite my desire for perfection. Hope you like it!

What I used:

Cardstock – Bazzill, A*Muse
DP – Basic Grey Lime Rickey; Law textbook
Other – MS punch; Recollections brad and rhinestone; button and twine from Michael’s; Fiscars scallop punch

Have a Craftastic Day!

Card 13 – Bye!!

21 May

I am currently doing a Fellowship at my former school and it was supposed to end next Friday. But they have extended it yet again…YAY!!! I will have another month of work experience and paychecks. These amazing news immediately prompted a small order from Ellen Huston LLC – more patterned paper [3 pads!], Maya Road pins, Hero Arts heartwinged butterfly stamp [Thanks Jennifer McGuire!], and Ranger white gel pen [I blame Kristina Werner for this, actually for the paper too =) ].

Anyhoo, in anticipation of me leaving my job, I was making cards for my co-workers and bosses. I was kind of cutting it close too, because I was overthinking everything. But now I have more time – yay! This is one of the cards I already made. It will be going to a co-worker who is extremely kind, generous, and silly. We had so many giggle-fit sessions after 4:30pm, just laughing about nonsense. He really cheers me up when needed, so I made him this silly card. I think he’ll totally appreciate it.

I cut out a scalloped circle with nesties in the front cover and cut another out as well. Stamped the cat on the circle, colored it with Sharpies and used 3D foam adhesive and taped it to the inside of the card. The hills were handcut and embossed with the Cuttlebug. Sentiment is made with glitter thickers.

What I Used:

Cardstock – Amuse clouds; Reflections Christmas pack
Stamp – Penny Black
Ink – Archival by Ranger
Other – American Crafts glitter thickers, Sharpie markers, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder

Card 12 – Hi, Owl Buddies!!

18 May

So I went to my local LSS and I got some A*Muse goodies!! I wanted more, but they were out of stock, however the nice ladies took my number and will order the sets for me! I love great customer service.

I am so proud of myself, the card turned out perfectly!! Originally I just wanted to experiment with some techniques and was not expecting much. But everything turned out better than I hoped and the card came together so easily! * dances *

I just want you guys to note how great the leaves look after being sponged with Distress Ink. Also, check out the embossed sentiment…no strays!! My homemade embossing buddy works wonderfully. Also I do not have any circle punches or nesties, so I cut out one with the scallops and then trimmed them off. Thankfully, the design did not call for a perfect circle, and I am definitely getting a MS Circle Cutter on the next Michael’s trip.

17 May

I am not proud of this card AT ALL. It turned out completely different from the sketch and I just don’t like it. =/ I did need a card the same night I made it so my best friend got it for her birthday. She loved it, but what does she know? hehehehe =D

Card 10 – Happy Mother’s Day!

16 May

This is the card I gave to my mom. She has been very supportive of my new hobby so I really wanted to impress her, and I did! She absolutely loved the card. The theme was sort of a lost treasure map. I think I have been playing Treasure Isle on Facebook too much…hehe. The middle was stamped with versamark, embossed with clear and then distressed with Tim Holtz’s inks. It was my first time trying the Distress Inks and I love the result…LOVE!
